| Annapolis Opticians' owner, Douglas J. Corby, has over 40 years' experience as an optician. Doug was trained in England through an apprenticeship system that combined five years of on-the-job training with classroom study. He also trained with Keeler's low vision clinic in London and worked for several years as a low vision specialist. He is a Fellow of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians, an Honored Fellow of the Opticians Association of America, and American Board of Opticianry Certified. He is also a past President of the Opticians Association of Maryland.
An optician designs, fits, and may even fabricate, eyeglasses, as we do at Annapolis Opticians. Some opticians also fit contact lenses. The State of Maryland does not regulate opticians. While there are many fine opticians who have voluntarily become educated and qualified, there are also many who have little knowledge or experience. Our staff have both the knowledge and experience to create for you the perfect pair of glasses, that are stylish and functional.
